How much will passes cost?

There are three types of passes: Summit, Vibes, and Community.

The Summit Pass ($200) includes full access to the multi-day FarCon experience, including the welcome mixer (May 1), the flagship summit (May 2), the hackathon (May 3 - 5), the farConcert (May 3), f(art) night (May 4), other premiere side events, a swag bag, and early access to RSVP for capacity-constrained special events. The Vibes Pass ($1) is a Summit Pass already paid for by the Farcaster community.

A pass is not required to participate in the hackathon.

What does the cost of the pass cover?

the summit pass gets you into events throughout farcon and covers the cost of the flagship summit (venue, food and beverage, drinks, av). the community pass gets you access to all events except the summit.

we are working with potential values-aligned sponsors to help ensure a high-quality experience for the summit as well as the hackathon and side events

Will food and drink be provided?

food and drink will be provided at the flagship summit, and ideally at part of the hackathon. more to come soon!

Who are the speakers?

@dwr.eth, @v, and @jessepollack are confirmed and the rest of the speakers will be announced soon.

given the vast interests and channels on Farcaster, our goal is to bring non-crypto speakers. we get enough of crypto speakers at our everyday crypto conferences

What are the lightning talks and product demos?

lightning talks and product demos will be led by your fellow Farcasters. these haven't been announced yet. they'll happen in smaller group settings (not in front of everyone at the conference) followed by ample time to discuss either 1:1 or with groups

When do I find out if my application is accepted?

application acceptances are actively going out on a rolling basis. you should hear a few days after you submit your application whether you've been accepted :)

If I have kids and want to attend, will there be childcare?

yes! @mcbain is passionate about this being a kid-friendly event and is working on securing childcare for the flagship summit

How can I host a side event?

tell us you want to host a side event in /farcon and we'll be in touch. we're also working to secure funding to support all side events and offset any costs for events that may require tickets

Where can I find side events?

all side events will be listed on the FarCon website. we're also working with @eventcaster to ensure RSVPs are possible. more to come

What about my $20 precommitment on Fabric?

Although we originally planned to substract your precommitment from the pass price, we will be returning all $20 precommitments. If you want to contribute your $20 to the travel scholarship, please let us know.

Norms

Norms

As a community grows, it inevitably has to make explicit decisions about norms and how to handle norm violations. In that regard, FarCon sees itself as an L2 on top of the existing US legal and social system. We don't like every detail of how our society works. But we're a small team with limited resources and focus, and we can't do much more than the status quo.

Our two strict rules are no physical violence and no doxxing. The first should be self-explanatory. Regarding the second, don't take photos/videos at FarCon unless you get explicit permission from everyone you're recording. The Chatham House rule applies to personal interactions: you may talk about what happened but cannot reveal who said or did any particular thing. Some events may post content online (eg hackathon winners, talks from key speakers), but organizers of such events must get consent before posting.

We call these rules strict because we don't have the capacity to spend a lot of time looking into allegations about them. If we get a credible claim of a violation, we will have to ask the accused to leave and revoke their pass for the rest of the event. This is harsh and may lead to false positives and someone being wrongly punished. We don't like this tradeoff, but we accept it. If possible, try to resolve any issues that come up directly with the people involved. And if you have any questions or concerns, we're always happy to talk.

Our short list of no-nos is not a reflection of our ideal policy, but of our limited capacity. We would love to provide more support but we can't do it ourselves. If you're on FC and want to help, please reach out.

Above all, we rely on everyone's existing relationships and common humanity to create a safe and cozy experience. It's no coincidence that Farcaster's premiere memecoin emphasizes courtesy and civil behavior. Please take care of each other. FarCon stands for collaboration, decentralization, and deepening connections. Those values apply here as much as anywhere.
